Mostly knots and frogging

This rather sorry looking mess is all that's left of the project I've been slaving over for the last two weeks. It's one of my own designs but despite trying 3 different techniques to get the result I want, I can't get it to look right. I was starting to dread picking it up. Rather than carry on regardless I came to the conclusion that nobody was holding a gun to my head so if I didn't want to finish it now then I didn't have to. It's too fabulous an idea to forget so I'm going to tuck the yarn away somewhere safe and come back to it when I'm more in the mood for it. Knitting is supposed to be fun so I've moved onto something a lot less stressful.

I've been working on my Simple Knitted Bodice which is going a lot more successfully and I definitely won't run out of yarn on this one! I don't see any problems with finishing it by the end of the month now it's got my full attention. This is my first top down pattern and I'm really enjoying it, it makes a lot of sense and I love that I get to try it on as I go to check the fit sooner rather than later. It's in Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora and it's divine to work with. It feels like downy puppy fur as it runs through my fingers and not like cotton at all. I can't wait to finish it as I know this is going to be a firm favourite.

It's a shame about the top one, those look gorgeous colours. The other looks fab too!

What a shame about your new pattern, but as you say, best to put it all to one side and come back to it another time.

Your SKB is looking absolutely gorgeous. Sounds like a good yarn to try.

Sometimes a break is all you need to get fresh perspective. The colors look lovely. Nice bodice and I'm glad it's going well.

I have no doubt you'll be able to pick right back up where you started from. Sometimes you just have to frog and walk away!

Love the progress on your SKB...and I enjoyed the little paw that snuck into the pic!

Oh no, I hate that you had to frog it. It was so awesome! I like this one as well though.
Heeeheee, love how the little rascal put his paw in there to show us your handknitted item.LOL

The SKB is looking wonderful - it is such a lovely pattern.

I'm glad to see you could keep the designing in perspective - I'm sure you'll have no problem figuring it all out after a bit of a break. :0)

The SKB looks gorgeous! I love this pattern, it looks lovely in the yarn you've chosen.
Shame about your frogged top :( but if you were just finding it stressful, why continue? Knitting is supposed to be enjoyable!

I love the SBK. The color is gorgeous. Sorry your design isn't quite working out. I'm seriously considering working out my own design soon.

It's a shame about the frogging but far better to rip it up and start again than plod on unhappy. SKB looks lovely! Ahh, little (big!) puppy foot :)

So true, that knitting should be fun and not stressful. Why do it if it will just cause you grief? Best of luck with the future sweater.

I'm so looking forward to working up a SKB this spring: every one I see is so lovely!

Oh no! What a shame about the frogging, but the colors are pretty... hope it works out in the long run. SKB is such a cute top, but definitely not for my body type :) So I'll just have to enjoy yours taking shape!

I'm so sorry about the frogging but know you'll come through with something amazing!

Love that your pup likes to sneak in the photos--maybe he emails with my cats on ways to sneak in on blog photos.

Another reason I could never be a "knit for hore" type of person. I'd hate to knit something I hated. I find that the old "distance makes the heart grow fonder" type of thing applies to not only love but knitting too. :)

Sneaky lil pup getting his paw in the pic. lol The SKB looks wonderful!

I like the look of your skb, the colour is lovely. It was a shame about your design but definatly not worth getting stressed about - as the others have said knitting is fun!! I bet you will wake up one morning and the answer to it will just be there!

That knit top is coming along beautifully! I hope you pick up your other project again someday. The colors for it are great.

Bummer about the frogging! But your SKB is looking fab! I have a sweater's worth of the same yarn. Anxious to hear your review of it! :)

I love the color of the cotton/angora. Top down is the way to go. I am in love with that technique. You puppy's paw in the pic is so cute!

Sorry you had to frog. It's so sad when great ideas refuse to manifest in reality. I have that problem a lot.

Your SKB looks great, though.

So sorry to hear about having to rip out the one in the top photo. However, the second one looks as though it is coming along great. Love the colours you chose for both items!

Good call on setting your design aside. No sense in working on it until you actually want to (and you'll probably get better results that way). Besides, the Simple Knitted Bodice looks great -- the perfect antidote to your other knitting frustrations!

Your SKB is looking great! Sorry you ending up frogging the other project, but coming back to it with a fresh outlook later on will make all the difference.
