A game of two halves

Maths was never my strongest subject at school but even my wee brain can figure out that two halves make a whole. So instead of making a whole sweater in February for the Sweater-a-Month KAL I'm going to be cheeky and knit two half sweaters. Two halves of these sweaters in fact or they'll languish in my 'can't see it, pretend it's not there' cupboard forevermore.

The first is the green cabled cardi that I've been threatening to finish for the past 12 months. It was my pre-olympic warm up that I started around this time last year which got pushed to one side and forgotten about after the event. I still have the best part of the sleeves and the button bands (*sob*) to finish. It's a Patons pattern from their Summer collection 1987!

The other is a sweater I started at the end of last year while waiting for the yarn for my Sensual Knits submission to arrive. I have to finish the fronts and make the sleeves and collar. It's from Verena (Herbst 2006) - a German knitting magazine that produce the most fabulous patterns once a quarter. There are around 80-100 designs in every issue so if you speak German it's well worth getting. It's supposed to be in DB Cashmerino Aran but mine is in acrylic that was in my stash.

It's also covered in dog hair because a certain overgrown puppy was caught red-pawed rolling around on it when my back was turned.

I'm still trying to use stash yarn where I can but my next post will reveal sordid SEX tales that will make your hair curl.

Your knits are so beautiful. I am in awe. I just looked through all your photos.

These sweaters on the go are again so so beautiful.

I love both of these sweaters! It is nice, when pulling out an UFO, to see how much progress has already been made - if you think hard enough, you can forget how long ago you started it, and just be pleased with yourself for how much knitting you've done! :0)

Beautiful sweaters, the both of them! I've been craving cables lately myself, so until I clear some space in my WIP basket, I'll have to do with oogling yours :)

Your pup sure is growing fast... Look at those ears! I just want to scratch 'em!

If I was that puppy, I'd roll in the yarn too! It's so soft and pretty.

I love watching your works in progress!

Your sweaters are looking great. Hard to believe the Patons pattern is so relatively old - it looks like a current design!

Look forward to your tales of stash expansion :-D

They count, of course! You are so prolific. Thanks for the Verena heads up. There's a cable one there that makes me drool

Mmm..sordid SEX tales! You tease you!

I love the two half sweaters--that has to count right??

Hm, I might need to convert my German SIL to knitting...or at least get her to translate for me. That mag sounds amazing!

wow! two serious cable projects! I LOVE the one from VERENA. its so soft and lovely. they have nice things from the website. alas- my grandma (who was German in origin) passed away 5 years ago, so no translator for me at the moment.

If I remember correctly, the sweater-a-month KAL says that finishing previously started sweaters counts, so you are well within the rules. I bet it'll be a great feeling to have those both done and ready to wear!

Look at all your beautiful cables! I can't wait to see both of these finished up. And wow, puppies grow fast don't they?

Ah yes, I remember that first one. Well, it's *nearly* done and will be a great Spring colour. I really like the one from Verena but dog hair is never a good look ;)
Can't wait for the next naughty installment!

That's a great idea for your February KAL project, here's to finishing them both! I especially like the Verena pattern, and after clicking through the link I might just have to consider getting that mag, there's some gorgeous designs in there. Thanks for the link.

Cassie has grown so much since her last pic! She is just beautiful.

You are talented!
I really love your sweaters... I wish I had the know-how and patience to do the same!

Those are looking lovely - great colours! Now, it is late (after Midnight) but I seem to be in a time warp - your blog seems to think it's the 20th of February when I thought it was the 11th. Is it me going mad? Or Blogger being daft? LOL!

You were missed. :) Glad to have ya back.

I am in love with the Verena sweater! You must model it when you are finished to get a better idea as the modeled pic in the mag isn't the best.

Naughty lil puppy! I know i could sit down right now and probably pick out 5 dog hairs from the stuff I knitted. The beagle's hair tends to stick right into those fibers and you can't brush them off, they have to be pulled off. Grrr...

LOL. The sweaters have finally seen the light of day. Woot! Are they for you? You pick great colors for yourself.

Little puppy has grown like a weed!

Glad you're back :)

Nice to have you back!
The sweaters are both yummy, I love cabled patterns at the moment, and both of these are gorgeous. Everything I knit ends up with SOME dog hair on, its obligatory in our house :D
Looking forward to the next "raunchy" post!!;)

You know, I'd be half tempted to put the two halves together and see what they look like as a single sweater!

Yes, I'm weird.

Beautiful sweaters - love the green colour! I have a cable sweater in my stash and you make me want to get it on the needles, but first the Cul de Sac vest!

So glad you are back!

What a good idea to do two halves and finish off those wips.

Yay! Sweater finishing. I'm just doing sweater starting. You're way ahead of me.

Cute pups (still). I'm saying "wooshie-wooshie, who's-a-cute-puppy-den?" in my head in case you couldn't hear.
