Sock it and see
I am very disappointed in you all. I have heard some people mention how difficult it is to take a photo of a sock on your own foot, but none of you have truly conveyed the level of contortion required. In fact I have had you all down as an unsupple inflexible bunch until now.
The sock, Baudelaire from Knitty and my first BTW, is made from vintage wool yarn that a mad old aunt gave to me years ago and is currently missing it's mate. The chances of it getting an identical mate are currently debatable as I rarely wear two socks the same as it is.
I made several attempts to portray the beauty of my latest knit. I tried the 'hold the camera low OMG how fat are my ankles' pose...
then the 'pointy toes' pose...
the 'wave your foot in the air like you just don't care' pose...
the 'oh holy £*=@!^& $#!+ I've got cramp in my hip' pose...
and finally the 'I've been in more comfortable positions playing Twister' pose
Hopefully you've seen enough of it before I have to resort to this, although chances of me getting beyond the first position are slim.
The things I do for you people ;)

Purrty!
Yeay! Socks! ...er ...SOCK!
You're not going to become one of those sock junkies are you?!
Not a chance Amy, it just seems like a lot of work for very little outcome. Maybe the odd pair here and there, but don't adjust your set just yet.
Oh, you didn't try my favorite--the "get-dh-to-take-the-picture-all-the-
while-questioning-the-fact-that-
people-actually-want-to-see-this-
on-your-blog" pose!
Lol!!! Great post! Fab sock too :)
The sock is so lovely :)
And I've done all those poses with my socks - mostly I just try to find one that doesn't show off my cubby legs - or the fact I really should shave them more often
Hahahaahaha! Oh all of those things go thru my mind when photographing socks.
Totally impressed with my first visit to your blog by your contortions in the name of blogging! Bit worried, though, bu the corpse pose. I think I would be in that from the start if I tried yoga!
I appreciate your efforts. My granddaughter must have heard of you, Rain, as she does not like to wear the same stockings!
I like the 'twister' photo best!
OMG Thank you so much for the laugh, I needed that. Lol
Oh and amen Stacy. I have telephone poles for legs. Lol
The sock is beuatiful, Rain, and kudos to for going after a complex patterned one too! :) You'll be on that sock knitting wagon here soon. The more you try to resist, the more you get sucked in.
Lovely sock there! hehehehe!! That's kinda why I like the blockers, but it is still not the same as "real feet"!
What a nice sock! Many a time I have spent too, (like playing a game of Twister)trying to put a socked foot in one position and leaning over to press the shutter on the camera!
*snort* You should have seen my 'artistic sock pose with wrought iron railing' a few months ago... I ended up bruising myself! The things we do for (with?) our knitting... the sock is lovely, can't wait to see how you manage with TWO feet to photograph!
V funny! That is a sock worth contorting for though :)
The sock is beautiful!
LOL!!! I can just imagine you contorting yourself into all those different positions! That is one beautiful sock! Don't be like me and end up with SSS, will you?!
Beautiful sock! You can now add contortionist to your list of knitting skills :)
Purty sock.
Do you need one of those wooden faux foot things? Want me to cut you some from wood?
So funny - and the socks are beautiful (I love this pattern) :)
The Baudelaire is absolutely perfect!
Such pretty socks!
Funny you should mention it, I just put up a post about how I had to do the strangest contortions to get a sideways picture of my Jaywalker. It's hard!
Thanks for the giggle, but you missed one; the sock half way up the wall pose!
LOL!! We know what you mean!
Nice sock tho!
LOL! if it gets you to do yoga, by all means. I am amazed-these are your first socks! wow! lovely first!
This is why I do the sock blocker pose!
Your sock if very pretty!
And THAT, my friend, is why one has sock blockers.
I'm so freakin' excited that you're really knitting socks! SOCKS!
Hi Rain, long time no speak! :)
You'll be happy to know I've booked myself on a weekend-long residential knitting course! i WILL learn to knit, I WILL learn to knit!!
(PS, new blog...)
Catherine xx
LOL, great post! Love the sock!
Harder than you think innit! Sock looks great - remember socks are small and very portable so you can knit socks EVERYWHERE!
Weel don!
Beautiful, but your right, it's crazy trying to take a picture of your own foot!
Next time, put the sock on the dog.
I think your sock is fantastic. It turned out just right and I like the pink.
lovely socks and yes they ain't the easiest things to photo yourself :)
I tagged you (if you haven't already been I would be very suprised!)! See my blog.
Beautiful sock! And really amazing photography. It is funny what we knitters will do, isn't it?
hahaha! I've soo done that myself. It's a real challenge getting a good sock pic!
I was literally laughing at my desk at work, probably making people question my sanity, at your sock poses (and titles, especially). Thanks for the laugh!
Sous le soleil...
