Innocent

Whatever it was, it wasn't me. If you didn't see me you can't prove anything. In fact I have a new alibi. Usually I blame my evil twin, but I joined the Serrano KAL today to find it's being hosted by another Rain. I don't often find other people with my name so from now any online knitting naughtiness wasn't me ;)

My main virtuous activity this week has been knitting little hats for the Innocent - Supergran 2006 appeal. They ask you to knit (or crochet) wee hats for their smoothie drinks and for every bottle with a hat sold between November and Christmas they donate 50p to Age Concern. Look out for the little hats in Sainsbury's and Eat Cafe later in the year and if you want to get involved you can find the pattern and further details on their website.

I've made another dozen or so which I still need to sew up and put bobbles onto. I'm using these little scrappi-doos pompoms to save fiddling about trying to make my own. If you can't get any Innocent will either send you some or will sew them on for you if you send hats without them.

Other than that I've been making myself some Mrs Beetons, that's right - they're for me! They're not even in the yarn I'd planned, but this odd ball of mystery yarn in my stash has been calling to me...and it appears I'm not the only one who likes it.

I also bought some Patons Spirit to make more wristwarmers with (for me!) because I love wearing them and will gladly wear my bright green pair even though they don't match most of my clothes. I love this yarn, there's not a bad colourway in it and I was spoilt for choice. The grey/black is to go with a scarf I made last winter and the purple is just because I liked it. It reminds me of the flat purple swizzles lollies that I used to love when I was little and I could lick the yarn it's so lovely. Before you go round telling everyone I lick yarn, remember - it was that other girl... (sorry Rain).

It looks like Cassie beat you to the yarn licking there!

Love your little hats. I need to get back on that website. That would be a nice little mindless TV project to do.

Yay! Something for you! Those little hat things are cute.

[wanders off humming to herself "Rain is a yarn licker. A licker of yarn!"]

Cassie's clearly channeling you on the licking thing . . . you can blame so much on the puppy. The Mrs. Beeton's are great. Today was the first morning that I realized I would love a pair of fingerless mitts to wear while I drink my tea and compute outside on the deck. After, after, after I finish the "musts"!

That yarn is delicious.

Oh you are so lucky to have an alibi. Although I myself have one too now that I think about it. Lolly is my nickname and so there are two. I'm sure you know Lolly of Lolly knitting around. She's now my alibi. Could I also blame her for my spelling mistakes?
Anyway, I love your mrs beatons. Don't listen to the dog! Isn't it a fun pattern?
The hats are great!

Gorgeous Mrs B's! Love the hats too.

I hadn't seen that Patons Spirit before, must look out for some!

Your hats are delicious :) As are your lovely Mrs. B's by the looks of Cassie! The Patons is pretty. I don't want to eat it though, yarn in the mouth is nasty. My teeth have gone all weird now :(

ooooh I love the little hats!! and for charity, (insert Harry Enfield DJ inflection)

I don't know about licking yarn, (you're a bit wierd, right?) but I want to give that dog a big pinch - love me some puppy-fluffiness!!!

- and those lollypops - I loved the ones that were two shades of pastel colours, one on top of the other. They had a sort of chalk-like texture and were 2p - can you still get those?

I love your puppy pic!
My mad mum has been puppy sitting and had to hide her knitting for the duration of the scrumptious little lodgers stay....he has no knowledge of knitting from his own mum so she daren't risk any injuries, and the temptation for him to eat the yarn is great!!...Better safe than sorry :0)
I want to lick the yummy yarn too!
My favourite colours!
And Heather i think the lollies you long for are Swizzlers and you can still get them in certain places...hey,just a thought Google for them,i know you can buy some of the "older" style sweeties online!

Hats - they must be multiplying in the night!
You have me convinced I have to knit a pair of Mrs. Beeton's, but first a few pair of clogs for Christmas and also a pair of leg warmers and a felted purse - then Mrs. B.

The little hats are fab! I remember making some last year (and getting very fed up with sewing bobbles on). In fact, I asked Innocent to send me some of the bobbles and the package split as the postman was delivering it. He wanted to know why I was getting piles of little fluffy bobbles in the post...

Lucky you to be planning to knit Serrano. I love that pattern! The innocent hats all look lovely and what a great idea to use the scrappy doo pompoms. The wristwarmers you're making for yourself (about time, too!) are lovely. Gorgeous colours as is the Paton's Spirit. That yarn is very nice. I bought some recently, too! :-)

Thanks folks. It was far too cute an item not to get involved.

TG - Oi, it wasn't me

Nanatoo - good job it wasn't yarn with metal sparkles then.

Sue - I am the picture of innocence, rule number 1 - don't get caught ;)

Diane - puppies and yarn certainly don't mix.

Daisy - that's really funny, they must wonder what the heck some stuff is.

KY - I saw yours, the colourway of it is divine.

Charity - give it a go, it's not that difficult, once it's on the needles you can see what's going on better and it'a a well written pattern. Do it without beads if it makes it easier.

Jerry - would your cat wear a hat? Have you seen www.stuffonmycat.com it's so funny.
